In addition, tips on court storage at the end of the season
As the seasons changed and cold air came into our lives, it was time to pack warm weather gear and change into cold weather jackets. If saved correctly, everything should work. But if you don't know how to keep your jacket looking attractive each year, check out our cleaning and storage advice.
When it comes to winter jackets, there are several different styles and fabrics designed to keep you warm and dry during the cold winter months. Different fabrics require a lot of care to protect the carefully selected outerwear and make it look good. If you need to clean your jacket, first check how to care for it. It would be great if you could throw it in the washing machine! However, for winter jackets that require special treatment, there are several ways to get rid of what is most likely in the closet.
Rinse jackets and vests once or twice a season. Beyond this, the wings may break. Rinse with cold water with a detergent-free product to prevent the feathers from flattening. Dry the court and some tennis balls in a low tub to make the feathers fluffy. Make sure the jacket is completely dry, even if extra cycles are needed to avoid lumps.
When washing the fleece, turn the clothes over and wash under normal conditions to keep the fleece fluffy, smooth and soft. Perform an additional rinse cycle to remove all detergent residues and then air dry.
Wool jackets can be washed once or twice a season to make them look bright and clean. However, most require professional cleaning. Use a stiff brush to remove dry dirt on the surface. Find a clean collar and cuffs with a damp cloth and mild soap, or use a household dry cleaning kit to clean and fresh the wool.
To keep the leather in top condition, we recommend professional cleaning every year, but you can also wipe the jacket with a specially designed leather lotion to keep it soft and prevent cracking. You can also use a special leather cleaner to spot clean a lot of leather stains. Chamois should be brushed frequently to keep them in top condition.
Faux fur: It is best to dry a clean jacket with faux fur, but most jackets can be washed at home. Faux fur is a synthetic blend that can be machine washed with a very small amount of mild detergent. Rinse the washing machine halfway in cold water, add detergent and soak the jacket for 15 minutes. Drain the washing machine and set it to rotate, then switch to the rinse program. Do not stir the machine. If necessary, drain, rotate again and rinse again without agitation. If the fur becomes rough and hard after washing, use a clean, dry brush to gently separate the fibers.
